Angelina Jolie & the One Perfume You Must Try This Spring (No, Really)

Mon-Guerlain

One of Rita Hayworth's favorite fragrance was Guerlain's Shalimar. Try it here (affiliate).

Last year I wrote about my reaction to the news that Angelina Jolie had signed on to be the new International face for Guerlain. I had been reading a lot about this perfume brand as I was developing the A Few of Her Favorite Things section of the blog. It's all about the things that classic starlets loved... from their favorite dress to their favorite wine. And the Guerlain perfume brand popped up A LOT.

“It [Guerlain] spoke to her, as it does to me, of beauty, history, and quality; one of the oldest perfume houses in the world, from France, a country I love and feel connected to," Jolie said at the time in an interview with Marie Claire.

It's interesting because I have often considered Angelina Jolie one of the modern-day actresses that could hold her weight against the icons of old... she has an undeniable charisma that reaches through the screen, and I have heard from people in the know that in person it is even more potent.

A friend surprised me with a bottle after I kept talking about it -- and it didn't disappoint. It is hands down the best fragrance I have tried in a long time, and it is my new mainstay. It is like Flowerbomb with a lot less candy and a bit more subtlety.

Side note, the perfume's ad "Notes of a Woman" is below... and by the way, I challenge anyone to watch this and still believe the off-the-shoulder look will ever die.
