The Cateau Marmont, Vasquez Rocks, and Other LA Oddities

The hubby and I have traveled to San Luis Obispo, and we are loving it! From hiking Bishop Peak to viewing humpback whales off the coast of Morro Bay, it's been an amazing getaway.

The cold weather is setting in though, some nights it gets super foggy. I love pulling out my favorite sweater, pouring a cup of tea, and digging into a good book. I am reading through the 1001 Books to Read Before You Die list -- an ambitious endeavor to be sure! But it will keep me occupied on long road trips.

What do you have planned for the upcoming Fall months? I am excited for October to roll around, Halloween is one of my favorite times of year, especially in Los Angeles.

Enjoy the stories that inspired me this month, including a little bit of ...

Cat house vs. Chat House, nature sounds to relax you, and the eternal fashion statement (Gingham)

Feeling stressed? Here are 50 hours of nature sounds to bring a bit of majesty to your day courtesy of BBC Earth.

Planning movie night at the Sunset Drive-In here in San Luis Obispo. Waiting to see what their September film line-up is!

Fans of Zorro might want to take a look at this Glendale home for sale. With silent film history to boot, it's a pretty cool find!

The funnies thing I have heard this month? The Chateau Marmont, which has a rich history of Hollywood lore and scandal, is threatening to sue a cat boarding service called the "Cateau Marmont". Because, you know... tourists might confuse the two.

I am all over the gingham fashion trend. They say it looks good on everyone.

Planning my next picnic to be at Vasquez Rocks where Star Trek and other classic sci-fi scenes have been shot.

Vintage swimsuits seem to be all the rage, but the question is, are they gross or a great way to recycle?

Next up on my reading list? Ava Gardner's new biography.

...and a few things you may have missed from She Wore Stars!

Need more Marilyn Monroe in your life? Try decorating like her with these pieces.
